Book fairs are much awaited events by book lovers be they young or old.  From our school, some young students, notably the YIAC (Young Information Analyst Club) members visited the 30th Manila International Book Fair last September 19, 2009, (Saturday) at the MOA SMX Center in Pasay City.

In the company of Mr. Gabriel L. Balenbin, the Club Animator of the mentioned club,  these young boys  were able to witness the different exhibits of the participating book  vendors and publishers. They also listened to a  guest speaker from the Philippine Daily Inquirer who gave some tips on story  telling.

What’s more, the curious boys were lucky to have a hands-on experience on computers equipped with interactive lessons on Science. This is called as Science I - labs Personalize Learning.  After that, their attention was caught by a booth’s robotics display. There they spent some   time trying to get answers to their questions about the programming of those robots that can dance, show some karate moves and can even break dance.

The boys were given ample time to roam around the wide exhibit area. They were able to observe what is happening in the book fair. They browsed books and magazines   in the different booths. They bought some of these reading materials and yes, they were able to mingle with other students from different schools.

It was already around 1 o’clock in the afternoon when the group decided to go back to school but uttering a promise to visit again another book fair.  After all, a visit to a book fair is a learning experience!
