“When God calls, He provides!” This was the emphasis of the main celebrant, Rev. Fr. Gerry Martin, SDB during the EPC Mass celebrated last November 6, 2009 at the Magoney Dome. It was concelebrated by our very own Fr. Renato “Degz” de Guzman, SDB, Fr. Rufo “Junjie” Zarate, SDB and another Salesian missionary to China, Fr. Garry Carbon, SDB who at the same time proclaimed the Gospel during the Mass. The focus of the celebration was centered on the institution’s launching of its vocation program which banners the theme “Take Courage, Follow Me!”

The celebration started with the invitation for an opening prayer led by Fr. Degz which was addressed to the Sacred Heart of Jesus since it was also the first Friday of the month. Before the Mass proper, the MSTC students showed a very symbolic drama presentation about the ways of following Christ and connecting it with the Gospel reading which focused on the calling of the disciples. The First Reading and Responsorial Psalm were delivered by Mr. Panfilo Morandante, a teacher from the Grade School Department and Allen Dequilla, a student from the MSTC, respectively. The Prayers of the Faithful was led by Ms. Michelle Cruz, a teacher from the High School Department.

During the homily, Fr. Gerry, who is the Economer of Don Bosco Seminary – Canlubang and also the person in-charge of Salesian vocations pointed out that we have to be sensitive to the things that amaze us. Listening to the voice around us, within us, and to the voice of God will help us determine the vocation that God has in stored for us. According to him, there is no need for us to be afraid in answering God’s call because He will provide all that we need. He further explained and simplified his ideas by relating it to his personal experiences of his very own vocation. His experiences really served as an inspirational message especially to those who feel that they are being called by God. Lastly, the celebration ended with a lively animation  from the MSTC students with the final hymn “I Will Sing Forever.”
