Opening of Rector’s Cup 2009 – 2010
Posted December 1, 2009
Last November 17, 2009 at 4:30 P.M., at the school gymnasium, the Personnel Intramural Games dubbed as Rector’s Cup 2009-2010 was declared open.
Present were our school’s Salesian priests and Lay Mission Partners who were grouped into four houses with four different colors - the house of Albera team (yellow), the house of Ricaldone team (blue), the house of Rinaldi team (red) and the house of Rua team (black). Everyone wore their color coded shirts which added to the excitement, thrill, and fun to the occasion.
As starter for the program, Mr. John Valeria, the Master of Ceremony, called on Fr. Elu Ulanday, SDB to lead the opening prayer. This was followed by the singing of the National Anthem and the reading of the oath of sportsmanship by Mr. Jeffrey Acierto together wit h the LMP players.
Later, our Rector, Fr. Anthony Paul Bicomong, SDB facilitated the welcome remarks as well as the ceremonial toss in basketball which signaled the start of the games.
In summary, sports to be engaged in by the players are badminton, basketball, billiards, chess, table tennis, and women’s volleyball. Games in badminton, basketball, and women’s volleyball will be played once a week while games in billiards, chess, and table tennis will be played next year during the Foundation Week Celebration. Championship games in badminton, basketball, and women’s volleyball will be played as well during the 56th foundation day celebration in January, 2010.
This personnel intramurals aim to establish camaraderie among the players. More so, LMPS will serve as role models to the Bosconians by showing the true spirit of sportsmanship – gracefully accepting winning and losing as losers or winners.
Good Luck and Cheers to the different teams!!
