From the directive of the Office for the Development and Educational Apostolate under the supervision of Fr. Onofre “Jun” Inocencio, SDB all Don Bosco schools in the Northern Province of the Salesian Congregation in the Philippines participated in a series of “art competition” tagged as Cultural Festival. The 1st Cultural Festival showcased the creativity and artistry of all Bosconians from the Grade and High School Departments in On-the-spot Art/ Painting Contest (Cartooning, Still Life and Mixed Media), On-the-spot Clay Molding Contest, On-the-spot mask Art Contest, On-the-spot Diorama Making Contest, Musical Instrument Competition and Theater Arts.

On March 7, 2009, Don Bosco Technical Institute Makati staged TAO - a play about life’s journey on exercising one’s freedom to make choices. The Joy Center was filled with mixed emotions that night as the audience reflects on the struggle which Tao-the main character has to endure just to look for a perfect companion to the door towards the next life. The play depicts the drama and horror that a person has to confront about the reality of life on earth; where nothing is permanent. The story primarily wants to convey a message that life should be lived not in accordance to earthly desires but on the principle that we all come from dust and we will all go back to dust. Furthermore, it was clearly presented that nothing else but LOVE is the key to any personal imprisonment in our existence on earth. Hence, live life in harmony with the creator.

The performances by the whole cast were superb considering they are neophytes. The actors are members of Theater Arts (GS), Teatro Busko, (HS) and Teatro Lakas-Tao (MSTC).

They were as follows: Lean Marxelle Recoter/ Diarvin Laroco (Tao), Wilson Dionisio/ Angelico Marcelo (Kamatayan), Morris Cordero, (Director), Katrina Escultor ( Kayamanan), Kathleen Del Rosario (Pag-ibig), Lucio Balatuka III (Matandang Propesor), Kevin Dayao (Batang Propesor), Aaron Ibay (Senador Tamad), Vincent Gojo (Pedrong Galit), Ginovin Derit (Efreng Masiba), Martin Romero (Don Alfredong Sakim), Mai Rich Ebron (Jimming Matayog), Jessa Chua (Señora Inggit/Kagandahan), Venus Valenzuela (Carlang Sabik/Pakiramdam), Patrick De Leon (Kalakasan), Alex Cosa (Pakikisama 1), Raymond De Mesa (Pakikisama 2), John Chester Hogar (Matandang Kapatid),  Carlos Elicano (Batang Kapatid), Luis Axell Ilagan (Pagsisisi/ Matandang Kamag-anak) Joshua Mateo(Batang Kamag-anak) Jamer Yapchulay (Violinist) and Gio Pineda (Singer).

The production staff includes Mr. Alvin Abias (Director), Mr. John Valeria (Technical Director), Mr. Lorenso Daracan and Mr. Henny Daet (Assistant Technical Director) Ms. Rosie Jane Mosquera (Stage Manager), Mrs. Clarissa Teves (Production Manager), Elihab Abundo, Julius Caesar Perillia, Alejandro Bajado, and Louie Joseph Climente (Technical Crew).

TAO! In death we are alone. We were born empty-handed and we will leave this world with nothing but the goodness we sow in people’s hearts. Thus, it is not yet too late to change if you have lived in the dark. Just learn how to LOVE because it offers you wise choices to all your questions.
