CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION WITH “KUYA and ATE”

Here is a story of a unique, beautiful and meaningful Christmas event which happened last December 22, 2009.
Young Bosconians from Grades Four, Five and Six of the Grade School Department invited the MSTC (Manpower Skills and Training Center) students to join them for their Christmas party. Once settled in the classrooms, the Grade School Choir under the supervision of Mr. Ernie Arcallana and Mrs. Gloria Los Baños serenaded them with beautiful Christmas carols. This was done via broadcast and was watched on television.
A Christmas party will never be complete without exchange gifts. However, this year wa s entirely different for our Grade School Bosconians. Gifts were still present but were not exchanged with their classmates. The gifts they prepared were given to their Kuya and Ate, the older brothers and sisters from the MSTC. This made the boys’ Christmas party totally different yet really special. For this simple act of generosity, younger Bosconians were given the chance to experience and feel the true spirit of Christmas.
Later, the boys and their guests enjoyed other activities prepared by the class advisers which included a special bingo game and some parlor games. In the end, the young Bosconians shared the food and drink which they prepared with their MSTC kuya or ate. This they termed as “two solids and two liquids”.
The non-traditional Christmas party was made possible through the initiative of the Office of the Pastoral Affairs under Fr. Renato De Guzman, SDB, together with the GS administrative staff, faculty, parents and the students.
Certainly, this special celebration conveyed to the young Bosconians and the MSTC students the true meaning of Christmas.
