Defending FBL Champs Seek Return Finals Trips

History of the Semi-Finals…

         All four defending champions namely  Letran College, San Beda College - Alabang, Don Bosco Technical Institute - Makati, and Marist School   in the 4th Futures Basketball League (FBL) were  eyeing return trips to the finals when the semifinal round came off the wraps last  Dec. 13 at the Xavier gym in San Juan.

         Defending junior boys champion Letran squared off with top-ranked Universities while Adamson University and Our Lady of Lourdes School-Antipolo disputed the other championship berth.

         Defending girls champion San Beda-Alabang and De La Salle-Zobel, which won all their six elimination round matches, battled against St. Theresa’s College and Montessori International School-Antipolo, respectively.

         The midget division had last year’s champion Don Bosco Technical Institute - Makati seeking another finals seat against De La Salle Zobel.  San Beda-Alabang, and St. Mary’s College played in the other semifinal match.

         The mini division had 2008 champion Xavier playing against Marist School and Don Bosco Technical Institute - Makati meeting Colegio de San Agustin in the Final Four.

Letran, San Beda College - Alabang, Don Bosco Technical Institute, and Marist School Retain FBL Crowns

         Letran and San Beda-Alabang kept their junior crowns while Don Bosco Technical Institute - Makati and Marist School joined the winners’ circle at the recent 2009 Futures Basketball League sponsored by Primovit Multivitamins.

The Squires outlasted the Adamson Baby Falcons, 68-59, while the San Beda girls dominated the De La Salle Zobel five, 34-20, both at the DBTI gym.

         DBTI - Makati prevented a title double by San Beda by winning the midgets finals, 66-40. The MVPs were Don Bosco Technical Institute – Makatis John Ryan Gumtang (13) and Marvin John Carlo Sario (11), and San Beda’s Jose Dominic Abarcar (12).

         In the mini division, Marist foiled a second title attempt by DBTI with a 34-26 triumph.
