HIGH SCHOOL DANCE: PLAYBACK

Posted April 2, 2009

Don Bosco Technical Institute Makati took a trip back the musical memory lane last November 25, 2008 as the high school student council sponsored this year’s high school dance, aptly entitled “Playback”.

Playback refers to a repetition of a recorded material, particularly in audio. In line with the theme, sounds from the sixties, seventies, eighties, nineties, up to modern day rocked the night. The Bosconians danced the night away to retro songs. The theme was proposed by Nicholas Andrew Price, Judge Calimbahin, and Victor Angelo Blancada.

The partiers danced to retro tunes such as Abba’s “Gimme, Gimme, (A Man After Midnight)”, Madonna’s “Material Girl”, and even Earth, Wind, and Fire’s “Boogie Wonderland”.

Glass spheres and laser lights dotted the savio dome, transforming it into a miniature disco.

To complete the retro atmosphere, the dancers arrived in their retro best. Bell bottoms, elevator shoes, and afros were the fashions of the night.

Dancers gave shout-outs on a projected screen as the fourth year computer technology shop set up their pabati booth.

To make the night more convenient for the dancers, the fourth year electrical shop set up their baggage counter. For a fee, they would watch over the guests’ bags as they danced and enjoyed the night.
