“Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success.” (Ralph Emerson) Thus, we begin this School Year 2009 - 2010 with this thought in mind!
Don Bosco Technical Institute - Makati City is once again teeming with life as our God-sent students are entrusted to us by the parents. We see familiar and unfamiliar faces among them. We welcome them with solicitude and graciousness. We thank the Lord for inviting these young people and entrusting them to our care. With them, we find meaning and significance in our mission as Salesian Educators, bringing to reality Jesus' call to "let the children come to me." With them, we are blessed to share in the spirit and charism of Don Bosco as "the father and teacher of the young," bringing to light his exhortation, "Give me souls, take away the rest!"
Despite the worldwide phenomena of economic recession and the A(H1N1) virus sowing restlessness and anxiety among us, we will not waive our resolve to provide the much needed impetus of caring for those entrusted to us! We thank the parents for trusting in our capability to form the character of their children and provide the education responsive to the modern times. Your trust in us is our inspiration to firmly commit ourselves to our noble vocation as "formators and educators of the young!"
Our journey of "working together to make Christ known and loved by the young" is the central meaning of the Rector Major's Strenna 2010! This will be the focus of our concerted efforts this School Year. We encourage everyone to support us in this direction. Our gauge for success will be the strength of our forged collaboration and networking to enable our students become servant-leaders specifically as agents of transforming lives and society. "Truly, nothing is more beautiful than to know Christ and to make Him known to others." (Pope Benedict XVI, Sacramentum Caritatis, n. 84)
Let us then put our efforts together. Let us bear in mind that working together in the spirit and mission of Don Bosco, will enrich our own lives and in so doing, save our souls and those entrusted to our care. God bless us together!
