The launching of the Revitalized Homeroom Guidance Program (RHGP) manual/workbook entitled “Homeroom Activities Necessary to Develop Life Empowering Skills” or H.A.N.D.L.E.S. was held last June 19, 2008. This was done through a broadcast presentation watched by all High School Year levels.
The RHGP is part of the New Secondary Curriculum (NSC) of which implementation was started in the nineties. It addresses the learner’s needs in being able to make sound decisions based on his aptitudes and interests.
Seeing the positive results of the initial implementation of the RHGP to the High School students, the DBTI-Makati Guidance Center revised and updated the DECS-formulated modules. The staff came up with a manual which is a product of three long years of counselors-teachers’ consultations and meetings. The manual gives emphasis on the needs and values profile of DBTI High School students.

The H.A.N.D.L.E.S. manual contains the spiraling development of activities which vary in depth from the First Year Level to the Fourth Year Level. The first quarter module focuses on SELF (self-identity, self-concept and self-encounter), the second quarter module on OTHERS (communication, building trust, interaction), the third quarter module on VALUES (self-regulation, values clarification, imbibing morals) and the fourth quarter module on GOALS (goal-setting, decision-making, career planning). The program of activities is designed to support the school in its effort of preparing the youth to successfully handle the complexities of life in today’s society through its varied programs and activities.
RHGP classes are held regularly form 7:00 A.M. to 7:40 A.M. every Tuesday and Thursday.
